On Friday, May 22, 2026, the Lafourche Heritage Society organized a field trip to visit to the Greater Lafourche Port Commission at Port Fourchon.
Deputy Port Director, Davie Breaux, gave a very informative presentation at the Emergency Operations Center, where a delicious lunch was provided by Moran’s Marina.
Following the lunch, Davie then had gave us a harbor tour by Harbor Police Boat, where we were able to visit several slips, Bayou Lafourche, Belle Pass and the Gulf of Mexico. Davie pointed out several vessels and gave us insight to a lot of the sights at the port. While Edison Chouest and Bollinger – local Lafourche shipbuilders are prominent, the global importance of the port was evident.
